Stanley Kubrick

Stanley Kubrick was an american film director born in 1928. He lived in England for most of his career as a director. Kubrick was well known for his scrupulous care in movie choices. Also many of his films were often slow and methodical. There was a re-occuring theme of mans inhumanity of man in much of his work.

Paths of Glory was a film which brought Kubrick much attention. This was a film about the effects of war. Made in 1957 this was a film based on a book of the same name by Humphrey Cobb. This was the first of three films directed by Kubrick about the effects of war, and is very much an anti-war movie.
Another more successful and well known film directed by Stanley Kubrick is 2001- A space odyssey. This is a science fiction film about encounters between human & mysterious black monoliths. This film won Kubrick an Academy Award for special effects.

Other films Kubrick has been involved with include A Clockwork Orange, The Shining and his most recent film Eyes Wide Shut.

  1. This is really a list of his films without any analysis of his main theme which you have mentioned briefly and then ignored. Try to extend your discussion further.
